How Neverstale works

Neverstale builds your portfolio from the accounts you already use and keeps it up to date. It finds changes and drafts the wording. You decide what goes live.

Getting started

  1. Sign up with email or GitHub.
  2. Claim your username. It becomes your address. Availability shows as you type.
  3. Connect your work. Choose at least one: GitHub, Dribbble, Instagram, a blog or newsletter (Medium, Substack or any RSS feed), or Behance. Neverstale reads only what is public.
  4. Generate. A short progress view narrates each step while your bio and your best work are written, using only what your sources actually say. With no profile to draw on, your bio starts with just your name for you to fill in.
  5. Pick a template and accent color, edit any text, and publish.

If you leave partway, sign in again and you'll resume where you stopped.

The update inbox

The dashboard opens on the update inbox. Each card is a change Neverstale noticed (a new repo, a new post, a new photo) with the proposed wording and where it will land.

  • ApprovePublishes it to your site now.
  • EditChange the wording first, then approve.
  • DeleteRemoves the proposal for good. Nothing already published is affected.

Statuses: detected (seen, not drafted), proposed (waiting for you), approved, auto-published (Autopilot), reverted, and skipped (filtered out by your preferences).

Every published item is versioned. Revert any item to an earlier version, or undo an auto-published one, in one click.

Fetch updates checks your sources now. On Free it works up to 10 times per source per day. On Pro, sources are also checked automatically every day. The "updated" indicator shows how fresh your site is: fresh, aging, or stale.

Connecting sources

Manage sources in Settings, under Sources. Expand a source to hide or re-add individual items.

  • Instagramcaptions are published exactly as you wrote them; no AI rewrites them. Posts appear in a Gallery section. Images are saved to Neverstale's own storage when you approve, so they keep working after Instagram's links expire. If approval says the image could not be saved, press Fetch updates and approve again.
  • Music, video and Instagram proposals always need your approval, even with Autopilot.
  • Email updates: send from the address on your account. Anything from another address is ignored, with no reply. Your personal address is shown under Sources.
  • LinkedIn and Behance cannot update themselves. The dashboard shows when you last refreshed, and the weekly digest nudges you when it has been a while.
  • You can disconnect a source at any time. Your published content stays; fetching stops.

Site design

Site design has three steps.

  • Profile: your name or headline, about text, skills and links. Changes appear in the preview as you type. Saving publishes them, and it is revertible.
  • Appearance: template, accent color, background color, font, and section names and order. Sections with nothing in them stay hidden, including Gallery until you have gallery items.
  • Page details: page title, footer text and your address.

The preview beside the form is your real site, not a mock-up. Templates: Terminal (developer, monospaced, dark), Studio (designer, image-led) and Byline (writer, text-led). Some, such as DJ, are Pro. Every page is responsive and shows a visible "Last updated".

Automation and the weekly digest

Find these in Settings, under Automation.

  • Manual approval (default): proposals wait in your inbox.
  • Autopilot (Pro): worthy text updates publish themselves. Each one can be reverted.
  • Weekly digest: choose the day. The email lists proposals waiting for you, or what went live on Autopilot with a Revert for each. Approve or edit straight from the email with no login. Links expire after 14 days.
  • Immediate notifications (optional): a one-item email as soon as Autopilot publishes.

You never get an empty digest. If nothing changed, nothing is sent.

Analytics

Analytics shows visitors, page views, top pages, referrers and countries. It is cookieless and privacy-friendly: no visitor is tracked individually, only aggregates are kept, and your visitors see no cookie banner.

Counts can run lower than tools that use cookies, because ad blockers and bots are filtered or blocked. Treat the numbers as a trend. Free shows 7 days; Pro adds 30 and 90 days.

Manage your plan, invoices and payment method from Billing. If you downgrade, Autopilot goes back to manual approval, the badge returns, and a custom domain (if you have one) unbinds after 14 days. Your content is never deleted.

Portfolio tools

Portfolio tools has your résumé view and an export of your portfolio as JSON or Markdown, so your content is always yours to take.

It also builds an email signature from your profile: pick a photo and links, preview it, and copy it into Gmail, Outlook or Apple Mail. It is a copy, so copy it again after you change your profile. The link inside always shows your current site. It is free on every plan.

Troubleshooting

Reconnect appears on a source.
The sign-in expired or was revoked. Press Reconnect and approve again. Instagram connections expire after about 60 days without a fetch.
Fetch updates found nothing.
Normal right after setup: your first import is the baseline, so only later changes show up. Trivial changes (typo commits, forks, config repos) are filtered out on purpose.
I cannot connect Instagram.
Your account must be Business or Creator (Instagram app, Settings, Account type and tools). While Neverstale’s Instagram access is in review, only invited testers can connect.
An email update did nothing.
Send it from the address on your account. Other senders are ignored without a reply.
A proposal has the wrong wording.
Use Edit. Drafts only use facts from your sources, and your edits are saved.
My site shows stale.
Nothing has been published for a while. Press Fetch updates and approve what is waiting.
